I hope you all had a beautiful Easter yesterday and were surrounded by family!! 🙂 We were invited over to eat dinner with a family from church and being able to see little kids play with their Easter toys definitely made it a million times better! I’m excited to share March favorites – it has been busy and full! I was able to go to Mexico while Devin was able to see two musicals in New York City!
FAVORITE BLOG POSTS
- My childhood penpal from Finland that I mentioned here began a blog! It has been so exciting to read her adventures in Dubai!
- I loved this post about developing daily gratitude practices. I’m probably not the only one that realizes the older I become the more pesky habits I need to work on ;).
- Ever been super stressed out about finding your calling in life? Yeah, I feel you. I even wrote about my existential crisis on here about how I ended up being lucky enough to become an ESL teacher! I loved this post on how we don’t have a one size fits all calling in life.
- I love this post by Joy one of my blogger friends turned in real life friends. She posted about people who judge millennials for being on their phones. Hint: technology can be a really amazing tool to help us.
FAVORITE BOOKS
My favorite book from this month was The Secret to Hummingbird Cake by Celeste Fletcher McHale . She had me laughing and she had me crying…sometimes within several minutes of each other. I’m positive that I will go back and re-read this book in a few years!
FAVORITE MUSIC
I am always looking for uplifting music and I LOVE male/female vocal harmonies. I found this band this past week on my Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” and this song gives me all of the weepies. It isn’t the most lyrically diverse song, but the message is very sweet.
FAVORITE CLOTHING
My first promise to myself when I found out I was going to Mexico and Europe was that I was going to be wearing cute and comfortable shoes while doing it! I walk 7,000+ steps in the city alone on the days that I am teaching and my feet felt like they wanted to die when I would get home. I really needed walking shoes that could be worn to work and were really comfortable. The last time I bought a new pair of shoes? Three years ago. Before that? Devin’s Mom and my Mom bought them five years ago for me when I was student teaching. Please envision the passion of Scarlett from Gone with the Wind when she is saying “I will never go hungry again”…and then please imagine me saying “I will never have feet that hurt again…” while pounding my shoes them happily into our trash can.
I’m happy to say these shoes were excellent for sometimes 9 miles a day of walking in Mexico. My favorite pair of shoes though? A $15 pair of Sketchers Go Walk wannabes from Walmart (that isn’t listed on the photo). They were honestly just as comfortable and still had the memory foam padding. I bought the pink and white striped dress pictured below in the black version and the pink lacey top in Navy.
So, now you know that we’re tight wads, but also that I have really happy feet. Since we absolutely know that we’re getting out of this grad school thing loan free, I’ve been saving up my personal budget to make some purchases for summer and it feels great to have some new stuff!
