I have chosen a word of the year for the last five years. In 2016, I chose press forward and in 2017 I chose flourish. For 2018, I have chosen bloom for my word of the year.
After five and a half years, I’m sharing why I still struggle feeling like Georgia is home and how I want bloom to be an overall positive intention to help me with that and other things I have struggled with since moving here.
The short of it though: I chose this because the phrase bloom where you are planted kept coming to me. I finally feel like we have a group of people here that makes our sense of community feel rounded out. However, that feeling of this isn’t my home still lingers and holds me back in a lot of situations. Our first few years here were the opposite of blooming, I was completely depressed and wilting. It has taken a few years to get over the anxiety here and feel safe and vulnerable here; honestly, I’m still working on it.
You’ll notice the broad goals that I have made throughout the year are to help me feel more at home here and to keep blooming throughout 2018. I discuss these in more detail in my video, but you’ll be seeing these as my categories for which I list goals this year monthly.🌼
- Simplify our home
- Become healthier
- Learn more
- Share/make content that means something to someone
- Learn to really love Georgia
