My goal for the year was to read 52 books. I ended up making it to 46 books which is more than I have ever read in a year! I really pushed myself to read this year, but I feel like at times it compromised me heartily enjoying lengthier books. Next year, my goal will be much smaller (I’m thinking about 20 books) and my guess is that I’ll be enjoying more audio books.

What I read: children’s books
Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
This one is adorable and I have to admit… I might have teared up reading it a little bit. I like some Dr Seuss books and don’t enjoy others as much. However, this one was charming and poetically described the ups and downs of life well. This is definitely one I’ll be reading to my baby later on, but one that adults will really love and enjoy too.
Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!
This book is all about celebrating imagination and different types of thinking. This one was cute too, but not as memorable as others I have read.
There’s No Such Thing as a Dragon
I love this book! The lesson of the story is that when you keep ignoring something, it keeps becoming a bigger problem. Definitely a great one!
Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA
Devin was sent this one as a present. It is written by Jimmy Fallon and is humorous. The whole premise is that the whole time the Dad wants his kid to say “Dada.” Kids kind of decide what they’d like to do anyway though… haha.
What I read: Miscellany
The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep: Simple Solutions for Kids from Birth to 5 Years
I read this in hopes that sleep training can go well. I learned a lot, but there is a lot of fluff in this book too; I found myself bored a lot of the time because there was a lot of talking in the beginning, but not a lot of useful information. I’m going to read some more and then compare which one seems to have the most useful information.
Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin
I really enjoyed this retold fairy tale! There are very few fairy tales that focus on male characters and I can tell that I will pick up other books from this author. The author also seemed to set up the book to put in background information for other books in the future which I loved.
I’m Not From Around Here: A Jewish Boy Telling the Historical Story of his Family’s Holocaust Survival in WW2
I love family memoirs written from the children or grandchildren of the main subjects. This book was intense and left off feeling kind of unresolved. Despite this, the book was good even though I feel like “dysfunctional families” always end up being the ones featured in biographies. The stories this author pulls together from family are really intriguing, depressing, but also shows how people keep pushing forward despite challenges.
