While the 21st is my technical due date, my doctor said I will likely be induced at the end of the week or around there. I’m currently feeling pretty good, but have been resting a lot. I’ll be honest, I was so sick my first and second trimester that I was pretty concerned about how this last trimester was going to go. Everyone around me said it was kind of the worst thing ever, but I found the opposite for me; pregnancy just goes to show that it is so different for everyone! I’ve really loved my third trimester, I’ve felt good, and even though I sleep a lot, I’ve really appreciated the last few months being pregnant.
Also, these photos make me laugh because I have been wearing these house shoes from Walmart for the last few months, including to church. The top of my feet feel like they’re bigger even though they aren’t swollen anymore.
MY THIRD TRIMESTER DIARY
Morning sickness & Nausea
I was sick a few times, but nothing like before, and it was almost always smell triggered.
Food aversions/ cravings
My food aversions have gone away…. hallelujah! I’ve been especially wanting Thai and Indian food, but I’ll take anything! I’m never really that hungry during the morning or day and end up snacking most of the time, but I’m so hungry at night. My guess is because that is when she likes to party.
Pains
On November 18th, I remember waking up and my back hurt a little bit. A few days later, on Thanksgiving, I had my first experience with pelvic pain. Since December 2nd, I’ve had the left side of my pelvis hurting and some sciatic pain coming from my pelvis. My new Doctor said my baby is really low and in the right position though so I can be great with that. I’m getting more and more sore as the days go on, but I’d take this over months of being ill any day still.
Skin
I know my belly has grown a lot because I keep getting more stretch marks, but since we have different mirrors etc. since we moved it is harder for me to know how much bigger I am (until I saw these pictures haha).
Weight gain
I’ve now gained 13 pounds and my new doctor had me get an ultrasound to estimate her weight. Weight ultrasounds are highly subjective, apparently, but they said she is about 7 pounds and 12 oz of that weight gain. It was fun to get another 3-d of her, but this time on our insurance’s dime.
When we were preparing for our move which meant packing, painting, and lots of odd jobs preparing our house my feet became huge. Compression socks definitely helped, but I ended up gaining about 10 pounds of water weight. As soon as we got up to DC though, I lost all of the weight and my feet became normal again. Sometimes if I am sitting too much, like in church, my feet with swell. This past Sunday, on December 2nd, my feet started swelling during church and I felt so uncomfortable. I went and slept in the car with my coat as a pillow until church was over. Other than just random swelling like that sometimes, I’ve felt really awesome.
Devin
Devin has picked up on a lot of slack because I’ve been kind of a couch wife. We try to park far away from stuff so I can walk more etc., but I’m not the most comfortable all of the time. I mentioned this in this post here, but after a week of not being around Devin, the first time baby E heard his voice she started partying. She starts to party everyday now around the time he comes in from work. Devin’s favorite thing has been being able to see her move around from the outside of my stomach.
THIRD TRIMESTER DIARY REFLECTIONS
I can only wish with upcoming pregnancies that my third trimester is this nice. My first trimester had me up every hour or two either vomiting or using the bathroom all night… and I only get up like once or twice a night for the bathroom now. I feel like my first and second trimester really stunk, but this has been amazing and I’m grateful.
We haven’t really bought much this pregnancy beyond some second hand items like a bassinet and a rocking swing. We have my hospital bag ready now and we’ve been cleaning up and organizing our apartment. We’re really excited to meet this little girl!
