I saw this list of questions from here and knew I wanted to duplicate it! I always love to get to know people’s reading intricacies and love seeing other people’s as well. Here are 22 bookworm questions and my responses to them. I’m curious what your answers are 🙂 . As usual, this post includes affiliate links which help support Autumn All Along.
22 BOOKWORM QUESTIONS
HARDBACK OR TRADE PAPERBACK OR MASS MARKET PAPERBACK?
I really don’t mind. However, I always try to keep my books as new looking as possible. When reading, I always take the book jacket off because I’m always afraid they will get torn or ripped up.
AMAZON OR BRICK AND MORTAR?
We go to bookstores a few times a month. I go to the library usually about twice a week. I use a lot of digital downloads through the library. I don’t really buy a lot of books because they take space, but if I do, I usually go to Amazon and buy them used.
LOCALLY OWNED BOOKSHOP OR BIG NAME CHAIN STORE?
I honestly don’t know of any locally owned bookstores around here. I should change that!
BOOKMARK OR DOG-EAR?
I always use bookmarks and I have this thing about keeping the same one the from start to finish of a book. I remember as a child, I would try to see how long I could keep the same bookmark around. I never dog ear. There are a few books that I will make notes in the margins and make tabs with sticky notes though; they’re usually religious or self-help books.
ALPHABETIZE BY AUTHOR OR ALPHABETIZE BY TITLE OR RANDOM?
Completely random as to how they fit into our bookshelf. However, I keep the children’s books at the bottom of our bookshelves so children can look at them.
KEEP, THROW AWAY, OR SELL?
There are a few books I will read over and over and I will always keep them, but I’d honestly love to just have an all digital library.
KEEP DUST JACKET OR TOSS IT?
I keep them, but I take them off while I am reading that particular book.
READ WITH DUST JACKET OR REMOVE IT?
Remove, but I never throw them away.
SHORT STORY OR NOVEL?
Novels. I’ve read a few short story compilations and I can never really get into them. I loved the Chicken Noodle short story series growing up though!
COLLECTION (SHORT STORIES BY SAME AUTHOR) OR ANTHOLOGY (SHORT STORIES BY DIFFERENT AUTHORS)?
I’ve never really enjoyed either.
STOP READING WHEN TIRED OR AT CHAPTER BREAKS?
I always stop at chapter breaks, but I least read more chapters after I say I’m too tired too 😂.
“IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT” OR “ONCE UPON A TIME”?
Both!
BUY OR BORROW?
I buy my favorites. I typically don’t borrow books because I feel a lot of pressure to like the book or read it quickly.
NEW OR USED?
Almost always used books because they’re more affordable. I love the Anne of Green Gables series though and I will be buying a nice version of that.
BUYING CHOICE: BOOK REVIEWS, RECOMMENDATION OR BROWSE?
If someone recommends a book to me, I will put it on my to be read list. If I know the person well and what kind of books they routinely like, I’m pretty excited about it. Otherwise, I just browse.
TIDY ENDING OR CLIFFHANGER?
I like tidy endings, but I can handle a cliffhanger if it is a series and will have a resolution eventually.
MORNING, AFTERNOON OR NIGHTTIME READING?
I read a lot when I have insomnia. This is why I prefer ebooks to in my hand copies now. I used to be vehemently against ebooks, but reading ebooks allows me to read books in bed next to Devin without disturbing his sleep.
SINGLE VOLUME OR SERIES?
I love series!
FAVORITE SERIES?
The Anne of Green Gables series, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Harry Potter series, and Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children.
FAVORITE BOOK OF WHICH NOBODY ELSE HAS HEARD?
Quest for a Maid! I found this book in middle school, re-read it in high school, bought it in college and re-read it. I re-read it as a married person a few years ago. It never gets old.
FAVORITE BOOKS READ LAST YEAR?
I read books last year, but was overall in a reading slump. My list from 2016 is here.
FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME?
I haven’t written this out, but I need to!
