September is my favorite month and I’m happy it is here! I am so beyond bumped for cooler weather outside… and I’m going to be turning 29! You’ll notice the organization is a little different this month because I decided to start sharing my favorite posts and finds in these posts (opposed to my monthly/recap and goals post). I’ll also be linking up with Anne in Residence here.
This month I am currently…
BUYING
things I need for our trip to Ireland in October. We don’t spend a whole lot throughout the year and then we go travel and start stocking up on gear like BAM. We are concerned about becoming rained out on our trip because this factor heavily impacted our time in Germany. Everything we are buying for Ireland has centered around water proofing or resistance; I will never walk in wet shoes again in another country again. The plus side is that we live in Georgia where it rains often and we probably should have had this items already ๐ .
I will be doing a separate post on what we packed last time and loved/didn’t like + what we are packing this time, but these are cute items and I’m excited too see them come in the mail.
SHARING
- This post: What if All I Want is a Mediocre Life?
I absolutely love this. I recently took a step back from my career by quitting a job. I’m realizing how much happier I am no longer working evenings when I could see my husband and pursuing other goals I’ve had on the back burner. I’ve wanted to take my blogging to the next level for a long time, but I often felt my energy and creativity pretty zapped from work drama. I’m excited to just embrace this weird season I am in even if it is much more simple. - This podcast episode: Why it doesn’t matter that other people are doing what you want to do!
I absolutely love this podcast series and episode! There are so many bloggers, but I whole heartedly believe that everyone has a very different contribution they can make even on the same topic.
- This podcast episode: Stay in your own Business
I thought so much about this podcast after I finished it. At first, I didn’t know what I thought about it, but I found myself thinking about it so much that I listened to it several times. I definitely recommend it because it is really awesome at dividing what is your business, other people’s business, and God’s business up to make it easier to figure things out. - This podcast episode: Happiness and Radical Enthusiasm
This episode made me realize how much of our life experiences are about perception. I have absolutely LOVED thinking about things this way because it makes things seem more changeable at concrete.
CELEBRATING
being able to visit Utah for the first time in three years. I lived in Utah for five years and I’m ecstatic to hop on to Devin’s work trip. I haven’t really contacted people yet, but we’re lucky to still have a lot of loved ones there. I’m really looking forward to some cooler weather there and also being able to see the leaves change up the canyons!
WATCHING
some of my favorite toddler friends and re-watching The Good Place. I’m kind of losing my mind over how excited I am about watching the second season of Stranger Things even if the previews made me want to pee my pants.
WELCOMING
cooler weather, hot chocolate, fall decor, our annual trip to the apple orchard, and any other basic girl thing I can say about being excited about fall coming ๐ .
PREPARING
for our trip to Ireland in October! I’m currently going through our clothing and deciding what is a good fit and what isn’t. Additionally, we’re ordering some items with water resistant/proofing since it will be rainier weather there (also, we live in Georgia and it would be a great investment for us anyway).
I haven’t bought a backpack since 2009 and I carried that backpack all through the rest of my undergrad and then grad school; I honestly can’t believe that was 8 years ago! I’m ready for a new backpack to last me the next chapter of my non-student life! I bought this Fjallraven Kanken backpack in sky blue that I have been obsessing over for the last few months.
PHOTOGRAPHING
more! I’ve had my camera for over a year, but I’ll be honest that I just started looking at the manual. Funnily enough, I read the whole manual for my DSLR years ago and didn’t learn anything. Oh my, things have changed! My Olympus compact camera has this option where I can use my cell phone as a remote timer and focus on objects. I feel silly for taking this long to know this because it is really life changing in taking my own photos (which I mostly do). I’m looking forward to having some more self portraits on my blog soon as well as finally really getting over my youtube video intimidation.
