Our living room is 10 feet wide by 20 feet long and has been kind of a decorating challenge for me. This was my least favorite room in our home for a long time and last year we switched everything up. I realized our living room has now been like this for almost a year and I still haven’t posted anything. This is our living room updated!
We don’t have any lighting in the room beyond lamps (something to fix someday) and the way we previously had the living room set up made it awkward for talking to people. I didn’t like how formal the room felt and how everything centered around the piano; the room felt very formal and heavy. While yes, this is our formal living room, we aren’t super formal. I’ve tried talking Devin into turning this room into our dining room and our current dining room into a piano room; no dice 😉 .
Beyond our piano though, we moved darker furniture out of the room, I made a gallery wall of things I’ve had sitting in a closet, and we bought a Kallax from Ikea to display knick knacks and books.
I’m happy to have this room settled and finished! I’ve never been an Ikea person, but this white Kallax made such a huge improvement to helping this room be lighter while still functional for our book storage. When we start repainting rooms in our house to get rid of all of the flat paint, I’m really curious if I’ll find a similar color or go for something a tad darker in gray so it pops a little more; we’ll see. In the mean time, I’ll just enjoy this room!
