Stitch Fix is a really awesome program where a stylist sends you clothing based on your size, style, and any additional social media that you include (I always use my pinboard here). I usually order a box a year because I’ve all of the items that I have bought have become serious closet staples that I have absolutely worn out and because it helps me try out different styles. This is a review of my January 2017 Stitch Fix box!
First of all, I’ll state the obvious that there is nothing more fun than getting a box of clothing and being completely surprised by what you’ll get. I loved what Megan sent me and could tell she really looked over my preferences! In addition to picking the five different items for you, they also send you a style guide for each item to give you suggestions on how to wear them.
WHAT I DIDN’T BUY
I really liked the style all of the items sent, but I’m both a fit + price shopper. Stitch Fix boxes are a real splurge for me because I tend to be a second hand clothing kind of person, but I’m going for more of a capsule wardrobe soon and I’m trying to buy some nicer pieces.
- Dahn Zipper Detail Knit Top by Olive & Oak
I thought this striped charcoal shirt was so cute! I’m showing the back in this picture that shows the cute zipper detail. This shirt is more of a tunic length, but I couldn’t justify the price tag when I realized how many other striped shirts I had. It was also extremely thin (which is both positive and negative) so I felt very self-conscious about wearing it even though it would have been perfect for Georgia summer layers. - Sylvester Split Neck Blouse by Brixon Ivy
I liked the style of this shirt, but the fabric didn’t have any give and it didn’t fit in my shoulders or bust at all. However, the color was too neony of a hue for me so I likely would have sent it back even had it fit. - Harriett Woven Hem Knit Top by Loveappella
I loved the little peekaboo flowers at the bottom of this shirt, but again, the fit was really weird on my shoulders and bust. I loved the colors and style though!
The cute floral and zipper details in the items below are making me want to spruce up some of my own clothing that I have with the sewing machine 🙂 .
THE ITEMS I BOUGHT
The two items that I did end up buying are dress/tunic and cardigan.
- Bri Knit Cardigan by Market & Spruce
I loved the light weight of the cardigan because I know I could easily wear it up until it hits summer in Georgia- it is so light weight and comfortable!! The price of the cardigan wasn’t that different from something I would find at Old Navy either so I was a big fan of that. - Theia Faux Wrap Knit Dress by Collective Concepts
The dress is mid-thigh on me and I’m 5’3 so I opted to wear it as a tunic or with leggings permanently. Normally, I wouldn’t do this, but I loved the cut, pattern, color, and vibe of it so much that I kept coming back to it. I totally cringed at the dress’s price tag, but it isn’t a jersey material which helped me justify it. I’ve actually worn it out everywhere I’ve been since I bought it so I know I’ll be getting my money’s worth out of these items! Additionally, the dress I bought from Stitch Fix a few years ago is one that I still wear at least once a month to church and I’ve always gotten a lot of compliments on it.
It feels pretty luxurious to get a Stitch Fix box and I eagerly check out mail everyday when I’m waiting on one! My friend Joy Lynn was sweet enough to take these photos of me in her adorable home. You can see the cute little wiggly bum of her puppy in the bottom left of both of these photos 🙂 .
