a little more about me

July 20, 2015life

My blog had a fresh re-start so I felt like it was time for me to re-introduce myself too.  Here is a little more about me!

It has been incredibly humid here in Georgia.  Today is the first time in a few weeks that I’ve worn my hair down so it isn’t plastered all over my face and my camera lens completely fogged up when I took it outside.  Let’s just go with it though and act like it is some kind of fancy photoshop filter 🙂 .

A little more about me: 20 fun facts about me | via Autumn All Along

  1. I dream of having a hobby farm with a petting zoo for children.
  2. I do most of the cooking around here, but when there is a dessert to bake Devin does it.  I tend to leave out important ingredients like eggs or put in the salt twice.  It’s awesome.
  3. My first concert was Dashboard Confessionals, my favorite concert was The Get Up Kids, and my last concert was The Avett Brothers.
  4. My cheapest form of vacation is looking up historical homes in different parts of the country on Zillow.  I love our house, but I can’t break the habit!
  5. I never took scissors to my own hair as a child, but I definitely do it quite often as an adult because money + convenience.  The only problem is my bangs look pretty awkward growing out right now and I have no idea how to fix it.  This might be why my bangs are braided back in most of my posts :).
  6. I grew up eating very southern food so I didn’t have cilantro, avocados, egg plant, or guacamole for the first time until I went to college.
  7. My favorite movies are: What about Bob?, Penelope, Gone with the Wind, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Sandlot, Stardust, and I am sure a few others that I am not thinking of currently.
  8. I always preferred having guy friends over females growing up and it meant that I went paint balling a lot in high school.
  9. My favorite ice cream flavor is butter pecan.
  10. My favorite TV shows are Pushing Daisies and The Wonder Years.
  11. I’ve moved cross country twice without visiting or knowing where I would live.
  12. My first word was Dumbo and my favorite exhibit at the zoo is definitely the elephants.
  13. I don’t enjoy the whole minimalist/IKEA/modern house thing because it really isn’t us, but it doesn’t keep me from reading blogs who pull it off really well.
  14. Devin introduced me to how awesome Mexican food is.
  15. My favorite color is teal,0 and it shows up all over the house!
  16. The only makeup I’m wearing in these photos is mascara and the eyebrows I put on my face (chicken pocks were pretty bad for me), but I really enjoy wearing and putting on makeup!
  17. I love personality tests like the enneagram (4w3000000).000000 and Meyer Briggs (INFP, sometimes ENFP).
  18. I drove my first car for 9 years, a car that was only 5 years younger than me, until someone totaled it last November.
  19. I spent a few years following blogs in different fields to help me figure out what to do with grad school.  It was pretty obvious to me what I should do after two or three months when I realized I was only following literacy and ESL blogs (and I’m still reading them a few years later).
  20. I married my complete opposite personality wise.  Our values and beliefs are the same, but our hobbies and the way we go about things could not be any more different.

For a first-time reader of your blog, this post is a wonderful introduction! I too never took scissors to my own hair until I was a teenager. I learned very quickly to leave things like this to the experts! I also smiled at your love of butter pecan ice cream, because that’s my favorite too. And I’m so glad you were introduced to Mexican food – it’s something that I personally could not live without! My husband and I have some opposite personality traits, and it think this is what makes our marriage work out so incredibly well and what keeps things interesting. This is a very sweet post, and your photos are radiant and beautiful!

Humidity and really all weather adds its own special flare to my hair. It is really interesting how our taste buds can expand in college… I too was exposed to a variety of new foods!

College was really the best for trying out new foods! My college town had the best hole in the wall restaurants :). What kind of foods were you exposed to in college?

I did enjoy this – such a refreshing post – and I love it about desserts, I do the same thing (and I was a professional cook – that had my assistants do desserts) – but in this case it’s vacuuming and steam cleaning the floors – my hubby wants it done when he wants, so he has taken it over the past few years – very nice! Big hugs 🙂

I loved this post! I can’t believe I lived with you and I didn’t know most of these. Pushing Daisies is one of my favorite shows too. I have the hardest time describing the plot to other people without getting weird looks haha. What’s your favorite southern dish? I haven’t found one that I love quite yet. But I am definitely a Mexican food addict!

    • jocebracken

      July 25, 2015 at 2:13 pm

Also, I’m an ENFJ on Meyers-Briggs! I swear I’ve switched from extroverted to introverted since I last took the test..if that’s possible.

    • Autumn

      July 25, 2015 at 11:41 pm

I will have to find a good southern family recipe for you and post it on here!

Pushing Daises was something I picked up off of Netflix within a month of moving out, probably. I had never really watched much TV in college and y’all introduced me to Goodluck Charlie and watching movies more in general :). I now have a standing obsession with Disney Princesses too so apparently that is also contagious.

It totally makes sense that you went from being an extrovert to an introvert! It measures everything on a spectrum. I am an INFJ, but I go really close to being an INFP on the scale by only a few percentage points 🙂

I always love when I meet other people with seasonal names :). I think yours is perfect for you too with your coloring!! I think it is funny how that works out 🙂

I am only a few percentage points from being an INFP as an INFJ. I have many friends who are INFP’s and I love being able to have heart to heart conversations with them!!

Hi Autumn! Love these pictures of you. I find it hard to believe that you didn’t try avocados until college, mostly because I eat them ALL THE TIME. Seriously. I’m obsessed. I put avocado on everything. 🙂 Can’t wait to read more of your Blogtember posts!

Here you go! This one is free 🙂 . The first number is what you lead with and they come from three categories. A heart, gut, and head category. Your first number is what you lead with and then to create your tri type, you have your top number for either of those categories. As a 469, I lead with my heart.

Your pictures are adooooorable! I am so shy when it comes to having my picture take (by someone other than me at the most flattering angle – and it still takes an hour lol)!

I had to comment on the Zillow Vaca, because omgosh. Yes, I do this ALL the time! Another silly thing that’s similar is I get on one of the Wedding Websites and plan an entire dream wedding! HA! 9 years of marriage and the perfect wedding is still being planned 😉

Oh, I’m so awkward in front of a camera too. It probably took 100 photos for me to pick the ones I put on here haha!! I’m glad I am not the only one who likes to obsessively plan vacations and other life events (I have a secret pin board for weddings too). Looks like we may be kindred spirits haha!
