I purge through most things in our house, but I consistently keep any kind notes that people have written for me. I shared once on here how finding a letter my sister wrote me helped me with her passing and how much it meant when a dear friend sent me a thoughtful card on a very blue day. I have birthday cards from when I was 12 from my grandfather, I love writing letters to people, and I completely relish any thank you card I receive; I keep them all and read them often. The more people write on the notes and the sappier they are, the more I probably pull them out to read them.
It shouldn’t be surprising then that one of my favorite presents from our wedding was actually the messages people left on cards. I still go through them and every time we have moved or have an anniversary, we sort through them and read the advice; what a sweet time to celebrate together with people and feel so, so loved!!
Admittedly, I also write down the nice things students or student’s parents have said to me about my teaching. For several years in a row for Christmas, I have asked Devin to write a journal of what he remembers about our dating experiences and sometime he is going to realize that will probably give me the cheapest and most cherished gift he can give me 😉 .
I loved these cute sound cards from Hallmark for very obvious reasons now; I’m sappy and the sounds were really cute! A lucky reader is going to be gifted a Hallmark Gift Package + $20 to celebrate someone special in their lives. Be sure to look out for the new sound card from Hallmark.
